Tristrams Tips & Techniques

Tristrams Tips & Techniques - Guild Hall Snooker Coaching Acadamy
When playing the game
Remember a good stance, bridge hand, smooth feathering and follow your cue through smoothly and straight on every shot. Make sure you are looking up at the object ball at the point you wish to hit with the cue ball when taking your shot.

The Pause
Don't forget after you have feathered your cue say four times, to pause your cue action on the cue ball and when bring back your cue and pause for a second or two then look up at the object ball before striking the cue ball.

POWER shots"
When you want to hit the ball with power remember do not use your mussels and tense your cuing arm use your back swing and bring your cue arm further back. Your bridge hand should be about 12" away from the cue ball and that your back arm comes almost straight before bringing your cue through for the final stroke.

Playing with side spin
Put a red ball over the middle of the centre pocket and the cue ball on the blue spot so you have a straight shot, now put middle right hand side on the cue ball, aim the cue ball at the right hand side of the red ball and a smooth but firm stun run through and you will see not only will you pot the red ball, the cue ball will come around the snooker table and will not go in the pocket!" So the next time you have a straight ball shot aim to miss the shot slightly, not forgetting to put your side on of course. Try it and let me know how you do. Using The Rest
When playing a shot with the rest, make sure you leave enough room between the rest and the cue ball say about 8" inches so that you can pull your cue back it does not come off of the rest. When playing a hard shot remember to have the rest about 12" inches from the cue ball because you will be bringing your cue back more distance for power shots.
